Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
