19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He defended four initial break points in a close third set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
